Police Warn Dancehall Artists About Guns In Music Videos

Cops are sending a stern warning to Dancehall artists who use guns as props in their music videos.
The head of the Corporate Communications Unit in the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Stephanie Lindsay recently sent out a warning to Dancehall artists who have joined the growing trend of touting guns in their music videos.
According to Lindsay, the practice paints a negative image upon the music industry, and helps to promote crime and violence in Jamaica society, and could even in some cases be illegal.

The top cop warned that if these “props” used in popular Dancehall music videos are proven to be actual guns, with no issued permits then several artists could be in very big trouble with the law.
She also warned of the potential impact such images may have on a artist’s career, stating that some artists have in the past been blocked from performing in certain countries due to the messages they choose to promote.
