Popcaan has clarified the controversial “hate” statements he made about Vybz Kartel in a recent interview.

The Dancehall superstar is now seeking to clarifying his controversial statements regarding his former mentor Vybz Kartel, which were made during a BBC 1 Xtra radio interview with Seani B earlier this month.
The “Unruly Boss” seemingly took swipes at his former Portmore Empire boss after he suggested that 99% of Dancehall hates him, including Vybz Kartel. The statement followed the release of a diss track by Shawn Strom titled “No Frauds” which branded the deejay as a “snitch” and a “sell out.”
However, sources close to the “Up Forever” deejay have since clarified that Popcaan never actually said that Vybz Kartel hates him, but he rather hypothetically questioned “if” he hates him.

According to the source, “the media just tek the thing outta proportion and twist it fi suit fi dem purpose.” They claim that Popcaan only gave a hypothetical response to the interviewer stating that “if Vybz Kartel hates me” but never actually said he believes the “Worl Boss” hates him.
The controversial statement was made while the deejay was explaining to Seani B lessons he had learned from his former mentor, stating “Since I’ve been around Vybz Kartel like a lot of people use to hate Vybz Kartel but he stayed on top and I learn that from him, That is why if Vybz Kartel hate Popcaan today I will forever be on top because I learn that from him.”
